Rich McCue was born and raised in Victoria and is a father of five wonderful children. Rich manages the University of Victoria Libraries Digital Scholarship Commons, which helps students, faculty and staff learn to create accessible scholarly communications to tell their research stories in ways beyond text in order to further their public scholarship and knowledge mobilization efforts. The Digital Scholarship Commons does this by making available digital tools like 3D printers, electronics kits, Virtual Reality equipment, and data visualization software, and teaching people how to use the tools.

Rich is also a sessional instructor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Victoria and teaches educational technology-related classes to undergraduate students. Rich’s research interests include informal credentialling, active learning pedagogies, flipped learning, makerspaces, and open learning. Rich is part of the UVic Speakers Bureau and has presented at a number of academic technology and makerspace conferences across North America over the years.

In his spare time, he reads, coaches soccer, sails & goes mountain biking with his kids.
